General Questions?

We’ve got answers.

  • Generally, we do not charge hourly rates. Our firm operates on a flat-fee basis. We believe we provide the most value to our clients using this approach.

Depending on your needs, we will construct a tailored proposal and quote for you. In limited cases, we may charge an hourly rate. However, we would provide you with that determination prior to signing any client engagement letter.

  • We provide one complimentary 30-minute discovery call for new prospective clients instead of paid consultations. All additional calls will require a fee.

During your initial discovery call, we take the time to assess client/firm fit and whether your needs can be addressed by the firm.

Specifically, we take time to understand your concerns, determine if your need is something we can assist with, give you a very general overview as to how the firm could help, discuss initial pricing and next steps.

During the discovery call, we do NOT provide legal advice. If you are looking for legal advice, but are unsure that you’re ready to hire an attorney for a full engagement, please inquire about our legal strategy sessions!

  • Yes, we can!

For federal law or general matters, the answer is an easy, breezy “Yes.” Examples of federal and general matters include: Trademark and copyright registrations, legal strategy sessions, etc.

For state-law matters, the answer is a little more involved. While we are licensed only in Illinois right now, we can take on clients in Illinois in a straight forward capacity.

However, for clients who are outside of Illinois, we typically partner up with local counsel in the client’s jurisdiction (in a very limited capacity) in order to have a local license there. Examples of state-law matters include: Contract drafting and negotiation, entity formation, etc.

As it relates to your particular situation, we can discuss things during your discovery call.

  • No. We run a virtual practice, so our meetings are typically run by video call.

However, if you’re a client and you’re in our area (or we’re in yours), we’d love to see you in real life!

  • The short answer is “No.”

We are very clear that we believe all ambitious women CEOs deserve sophisticated legal counsel. We speak directly to women CEOs in our work. It’s a mission close to our heart and the core of why we do what we do.

We’re also thrilled to see just how many people support this mission and want to work with a team of people who are dedicated to this cause. As such, we’ve built a robust client portfolio of CEOs who do and do not identify as women. This is an immense point of pride for us. So long as a prospective client is a good fit for the firm (and we’re a good fit for them), we are happy to collaborate with that CEO!

Take a look at Our Values to get an understanding of who we are.

  • To help us stay focused and deliver the highest quality work to our clients, we do not take unscheduled phone calls or meetings.

We are very responsive to our clients by email. If you are a current client, you can email us at hello@stoutegylaw.com to request a meeting and we will connect with you to set something up in a timely fashion!

  • We do not share our pricing on our website because every client need is different and we tailor our proposals to fit those client needs. We can say, however, that most investments with us start at $2,500 and increase from there.

Our legal strategy sessions begin at $750 per session. Chat with us for more details about those sessions!

  • If you have a general question that is not covered here, feel free to email us at hello@stoutegylaw.com or ask us during your discovery call!
